Internal Processing Scenarios

Most certification requests will follow one of four processing paths through NTIA processing. The videos below show the different user roles who participate in each of the major processing scenarios.

SRB Processing

Most certification requests are new requests and are analyzed by the SRB at the beginning of the certification process.

SRB Processing within SSD Processing

After a request has been analyzed by SRB and reviewd by the SPS, the SRB will create a Certification of Spectrum Support, implementing SPS recommendations.

Working Group 7 Processing

WG7 processing is the path taken by certification requests dealing with systems that have already been certified and only require an update, or addendum, to the certification request. This means that the system has already passed through SRB processing at some point in the past and only requires minor changes to the certification, such as a revised location.

Working Group 8 Processing

Some certification requests require a special processing path. IFF systems do not go through SRB Processing, if they are new requests, or though WG7, processing if they are addenda. Because of unique policy and technological considerations, these requests are handled by WG8.
